Relationship therapy helps couples to communicate their feelings and needs to each other without fear of being criticized or attacked.
Are you ready to work alone with your partner?
Conflicts are a normal part of relationships, but these can turned into when both have different goals/dreams, or view the world differently.
Accessing couples therapy doesn't necessarily mean there's an ongoing crisis in the relationship. To have a long-lasting, satisfactory relationship, many couples opt for counseling. This is a way to meet each other in a safe, non-judgmental space as equals and strengthens their relationship and friendship overall. In couples counselling/therapy, the focus is on creating a safe environment where both partners have the right to communicate openly and share their feelings without fear of being judged or attacked.
Couples counselling can last anywhere from a few weeks to years, depending on each couple's situation. Good results in therapy requires consistency; to see the benefits of therapy in your relationship work together to achieve your mutual goals.
SUPPORT YOU access IN COUPLES RELATIONSHIP THERAPY
Couples counselling can help resolve relationship problems by focusing on the following:
Intake assessment: Understanding main issues, priorities/goals to improve couples relationships. Review safety issues and others main issues.
Managing the source of conflicts: Sometimes couple members face unresolved traumas, preventing them from forming a healthy and flexible relationship with their partners. This can create tensions in the relationship.
Lack of communication: If you and your partner have grown apart, you are unlikely to communicate your wants, needs, fears and others, with each other.
Lack of trust: If you and your partner have mistrust issues for infidelity or other reasons, you will not be able to communicate in a healthy way. We offer support to help couples by facilitating open, respectful communication so that both partners are aware of each other’s true feelings and intentions.
Intimacy issues: Once you and your partner grow apart, it is difficult to develop a strong attachment bond. Even if both are able to get some moments of romantic privacy, they might not enjoy them. Couples counselling can help you by taking you back to being a couple and forming a lasting romantic relationship.
Major life changes: Transition issues such as suffering the loss of a family member or expecting your first child sometimes causes your relationship to experience changes. Couples counselling can help you get through these challenges and find new ways to work together in your relationship
Other areas of support:
We offer webinars which are designed to help couples explore the following areas and issues which may have an impact on couples relationships.
Defining marriage and relationship; values of love and friendship
Culture - family of origin; knowing yourself and your partner
Financial issue and goals; the value of conflict resolution
Power issues within marriage; values about trust and commitment
Communicating your wants and needs; The value of intimate relationships and romance
Adapting to children; the value of amicable separation or divorce
In couples counselling, we often use Conflict Resolution and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy methods to explore the barriers preventing the couple from overcoming their challenges and starting treatments.
If you have more questions, please register for your first session and bring your questions to discuss how I can help you achieve your relationship goals.
